If you follow what excites you, you are on the right path.

Impactful experience:
Starting a band called “Homemade Haircuts” with fellow scholar and close friend Evan Delp has been one of my most impactful experiences at UofSC. When we met at Scholar Weekend during our senior year of high school, we actually joked that if we both went here, we would start a band. Four years later, we’ve released 20 original songs, collaborated in-person and remotely, and grown together as musicians and brothers. After graduation, we plan to finish our first full-length album and take the band wherever life leads us.

Enjoy most as a TS:
I enjoy having an awesome support system of scholar peers and OFSP staff members. Every time I’ve struggled in a course or faced a tough decision, I’ve been able to turn to other scholars who have gone through similar things. There’s always somebody who can help, and everybody wants to see others succeed. I’ve also enjoyed playing on intramural volleyball teams with fellow scholars, as the low-key (but actually competitive) matches led me to meet some of my closest friends.

Story:
When I look back on my UofSC experience, I think not only of great moments I lived in Columbia, but also unique memories I collected during my travels abroad. Thanks to my scholarship and the supportive peers and advisors that came along with it, I was able to study and work abroad in five different countries as a Gamecock, namely Costa Rica, Scotland, China, Australia, and New Zealand. Prior to college, I had never traveled outside of the United States, and I will always be grateful to UofSC for opening the door to the world around me. One of my favorite memories is when I worked at a small non-profit in Sydney, Australia and lived about 10 minutes from the Opera House. That was cool.

Post-graduate plans:
Rob has
accepted a human resources position with Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC in Charleston, SC. As he begins his career, he will continue making music with friend and scholar Evan Delp for their band Homemade Haircuts.

Career goals/professional aspirations:
I want to have a dynamic career that leads me to new places and connects me with passionate people. Whether it’s through business, law, music, or some other path, I hope to be a force that improves people’s lives.

Challenge the conventional. Create the exceptional. No Limits.
