Electrical Engineering

If it was easy, it wouldn't be worth doing.

Impactful experience:
One of the best experiences at UofSC was being a member of the Gamecock Sailing Club and traveling to compete in offshore sailing regattas on Lake Michigan.

Enjoy most as a TS:
The most impactful part of being a Top Scholar was becoming one of a community of like-minded and high achieving individuals that strived for excellence professionally and in their private lives.

Story:
While one may get a great grade or append another leadership role to their resume, there is always more a person can get from an experience. I had the pleasure of being advised both in a club leadership role and academically in the classroom by the eminent Dr. Roger Dougal of the Electrical Engineering department. He pushed me to realize that it’s not satisfactory to just finish, but that the true reward was doing the best possible job and enjoying every second along the way. Whether it was a lab report or a boat repair Dr. Dougal fundamentally changed my view of the world for the better.

Post-graduate plans:
Following his graduation from the College of Engineering and Computing and the Honors College, Jared is pursuing a PhD in Electrical Engineering focusing on Power Electronics and Power Systems under Dr. Enrico Santi right here at the University of South Carolina.

Career goals/professional aspirations:
I seek to better the world through the applications of electrical engineering in research.

Challenge the conventional. Create the exceptional. No Limits.
