Participate in Research!

The Neurolinguistics lab is always looking for volunteers to participate in fMRI, brain stimulation, and behavioral experiments. The following groups qualify to participate:

• Healthy right-handed speakers of English between the ages of 18 and 75;
• Individuals with aphasia (language impairment) following stroke;

Research participants are compensated for their time. If you are interested in participating and thus contributing to understanding language functions as well as developing new approaches to rehabilitation, please contact us.  

Volunteer to Work in Lab 

Volunteer opportunities are typically available for undergraduate and graduate students. Volunteering in the lab is an excellent way to become more familiar with current research involving communication sciences and disorders, linguistics, and related fields.  Please contact Dr. den Ouden for information about undergraduate and graduate student research opportunities.

Degrees in Communication Sciences and Disorders

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (COMD) at the University of South Carolina offers a Master’s Degree in Speech, Hearing, and Language Pathology, both full-time on-campus part-time via distance education, as well as a doctoral degree.
