For COMD Supervisors

Current COMD Supervisors

Thank you for volunteering your time and expertise as a practicum supervisor for our graduate students!  Here is a link to our Supervisor Resources Playlist.  Use this link to view short, digestible videos about what it means to be a supervisor and help answer questions about how practicum works at USC.  Our goal is to provide an education such that students are an asset to the clinical instructors who are kind enough to mentor them.  Please do not hesitate to contact a practicum administrator if you have any questions or concerns. We value our supervisors, and want them to feel happy and supported.  The practicum administrators are:

Juliana O. Miller, MS, CCC-SLP
Director of External Clinical Practicum
Office: 803-777-2628
Email: miller39@mailbox.sc.edu

Joanna Scoggins, MEd, CCC-SLP

Assistant Director of External Clinical Practicum

Office:  803-777-2604

Email: jscoggin@mailbox.sc.edu

Not a COMD Supervisor, Yet?

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders is always looking for new sites and experiences for students enrolled in our graduate program.  If you wish to serve as an external practicum site supervisor, please complete and return this form.  Supervisors must have had their CCC’s from ASHA for a minimum of 9 months, be on-site 100% of the time, and supervise at least 25% of client interactions.   Supervisors document student performance and approve earned practicum hours using CALIPSO, a web-based program.  Many potential supervisors have questions about supervision.  A good resource is ASHA’s supervision site, at http://www.asha.org/Practice-Portal/Professional-Issues/Clinical-Education-and-Supervision/.  Of course, the practicum administrators at USC are always here for guidance and support, should our outside supervisors need it.  We very much value or practicum supervisors, and want them to feel supported and happy.

Thank you for your interest!  We look forward to hearing from you.
