Pay Dates and Payroll Deadlines

This page provides important information about when your student employees will be paid and about the paperwork they need to complete in order to receive their paychecks via direct deposit.

All USC employees, including student employees, are required to participate in direct deposit in order to receive a paycheck per the university’s Payroll Direct Deposit policy. It is important to verify that a student employee has set up or updated their direct deposit information on their first day of work to ensure they are able to appropriately log time worked and receive their first paycheck on time.

Visit Setting Up Direct Deposit for more information and instructions on how to set up and revise direct deposit information.

 Payroll Schedules

  • Student employees are paid on the 15th and last day of each month via direct deposit.
  • All student employees are paid on a lag. A pay lag means earnings for the first half of the month will be paid at the end of the month and earnings for the second half of the month will be paid the following month on the 15th . The university processes lag payrolls and current payrolls on a semi-monthly basis in accordance with your pay group schedule.  View Payroll Schedules to see pay period end dates and check distribution dates.
  • Hourly student employees are paid on a different schedule than salaried lag students mentioned above. Please visit the Payroll Website to view hourly and Overtime Pay Schedules.
