Integrated Information Technology

Our Academics

Our IIT programs span a wide range of technologies and allow students to gain foundational competencies coupled with the flexibility to adapt new technological innovations. Our graduates possess the right combination of knowledge and experience to take care of both an organization’s information technology infrastructure and those who use it, making them essential members of any business team.

Undergraduate Programs:

Integrated Information Technology (B.S.)

IT professionals apply their understandings of system integration, development, and operation and deploy and manage IT services and platforms that meet the business goals and objectives of the organization.  An IIT undergraduate degree prepares graduates for a challenging career in the IT profession with great potential for advancement in virtually any industry, anywhere in the world. In addition to a broad technical curriculum, students in the Bachelor of Science in IIT program engage in experiential learning involving projects drawn from industry. Our IIT program is one of only 37 IT programs certified nationally by ABET, the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology.

Minor in Integrated Information Technology

The increased importance and global reach of computing technology in all aspects of today’s society makes a minor in Integrated Information Technology a good choice for students in any discipline. Coursework includes a broad range of options, including cyber security operations, IT business operations, databases, networking, project management and web development.

Minor in Cybersecurity Operations

Cybersecurity operations is the practice of ensuring confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information and computer systems. The Cybersecurity Operations Minor prepares non-computing majors to implement sound practices for computer security and data protection. You’ll learn how to implement practical computer security in everyday life. Prior coursework in computing or information technology is not prerequisite to this minor.

Graduate Programs:

Master of Health Information Technology (MHIT)

With the aim of preparing students for the rapidly changing field of health care informatics, this program blends a technical IT foundation with coursework covering current clinical trends, government regulations and healthcare-specific management practices. Students will learn to make smart clinical decisions using big data while gaining hands-on experience with innovative tools and technologies used to improve health care delivery. Students will also gain real-life perspectives on the complexities of transforming the U.S. health care system.

Master of Information Technology

The Master of Science in Information Technology (MS in IT) educates leaders who advance the science of information and digital transformation. The digital revolution is impacting all aspects of our lives, reshaping both personal and work lives everywhere. Students in the master’s program can advance their knowledge in areas such as cyber-infrastructure, networking, data analytics, artificial intelligence, user experience and interface design.

PharmD / MHIT Dual Degree

Our department also offers a Pharm.D./MHIT dual-degree for students interested in both pharmacy and health IT. Students must be accepted into the School of Pharmacy graduate program prior to applying for the joint degree. Pursuit of the dual Pharm.D./MHIT degree prepares students to be leaders in medical informatics at all levels of health care and to ensure that health IT supports patient safety.

Informatics (Ph.D.)

In the Informatics Ph.D. program, you'll have the opportunity to study all aspects of living in a digital world, including developing an understanding of human needs by going into the field, designing new technology, putting technology to use in laboratory experiments and trial deployment, or devising theories about information technology and its role in society.
