Autumn graduated from Union Theological Seminary at Columbia University in 2022 with a master’s degree in History of Religion. Previously, she graduated from Macalester College in 2020 with a bachelor’s degree in Religious Studies and International Studies, with a concentration on Human Rights & Humanitarianism. Her research includes extensive ethnographic interviewing with migrants in both Minneapolis, MN and Cusco, Peru, through which she explored the role of religion in defining identity and community through the migration process. Throughout her undergraduate years, Autumn volunteered with local social service organizations and sang in Macalester’s Concert Choir, touring to various locations around the country.
Before SCHC, Autumn worked in nonprofit affordable housing. During this time, she assisted residents in sharing their experiences in the housing system with lawmakers at the Minnesota State Capitol and with community members through speaking and writing opportunities. This work brought her into deep and meaningful relationship with individuals and families who had experienced homelessness in Minnesota, inspiring Autumn to continue in relationship-based work as an Academic Advisor at SCHC.
Autumn comes to South Carolina from Minnesota with her husband Dominic, who will begin an MFA in Acting at USC in fall 2023. Together, they look forward to avoiding snowfall and enjoying plenty of sunshine in their new home in the Southeast!
