Graduate Research

As a graduate student, you can help create new materials to improve airplanes or find new ways to make your neighbors healthier. Our research teams draw from all disciplines to solve problems for South Carolinians and the world, whether it’s solutions for renewable energy or investigating climate change and local weather hazards.

You can receive up to $5,000 to support your research and creativity in a variety of ways, including salary, supplies, travel and other essential costs.

For example, the SPARC Graduate Fellowship is a merit-based award for highly innovative research and creative projects. In addition, each spring approximately one dozen graduate students are nominated by their graduate program directors to receive the Breakthrough Graduate Scholars Award.
