Studio Audition Requirements
Trumpet
Undergraduate - BA/Music Minor
Candidates in the brass area should prepare two movements from different compositions of choice from the standard solo repertoire that show a contrast in style (one fast and the other slow and lyrical). Two single movement works are also acceptable. All-State materials are also acceptable for this degree only. Accompaniment is not required. Sightreading and scales may be asked.
Undergraduate - Music Education (BMUED, non-performance)
Please prepare movement I from one of the following works: Kent Kennan Sonata, Haydn Concerto in Eb, Hummel Concerto in Eb, or the Halsey Stevens Sonata. No accompaniment is required. Sightreading and scales may be asked.
Undergraduate - Performance (BM & PC)

Graduate - (MM & DMA)
Masters audition requirements:
- Charlier Etude #2
- A Concerto of choice (Mvt I only)
- Honegger Intrada
- Orchestral Excerpts: Mahler 5 (opening & lyrical solo - 1 before No. 13 through No. 14), Petroushka (Ballerina Dance), Pictures (opening), Pines of Rome (offstage), Leonore No. 3.
DMA audition requirements:
- Same requirements as the Masters, plus a choice of a first movement of a piccolo trumpet work (Fasch, Tartini, Torelli, Corelli, Telemann, Richter, et al.
Live audition durations are approx. 20-25 minutes in length. Sightreading and scales may be asked based on time allowed. An "interview" may also be a part of the audition. No accompaniment required.
