Hello! I am a junior from Charlotte, North Carolina (originally India) studying Biological Sciences, with a minor in Medical Humanities and Culture. I am an Undergraduate Research Assistant in the Department of Biological Sciences, as well as the Deputy Elections Commissioner in Student Government. I also serve in multiple leadership positions in various premedical and non-medical university organizations. In the future, I want to become a surgeon, while continuing to pursue interests in research and public policy.
My advice for prospective students: never be afraid to reach out to others for new opportunities and experiences!
My advice for current students: continue to foster and grow relationships with mentors.
My favorite thing about the Honors College: is the cool courses that allow me to network with local professionals.
My reason for choosing the SCHC: was a desire for a balanced liberal arts education alongside my traditional premedical coursework.
My hobbies: are basketball, basketball, basketball. I initially started watching the sport in middle school so that I could better connect with my peers — many of whom loved sports. However, what started as an effort to get to know others better has turned into, as my friends would say, about 90% of my personality. I love watching, playing, and even reading about the sport.
Something that makes me laugh: is my dog. He knows exactly how to make me smile when I’ve been having a bad day.
Skill I’d like to master: is public-speaking. I have been working on this skill for the past few years, and I am much better than I used to be, especially in front of small groups of people. However, I want to keep improving until I feel comfortable talking in front of larger groups.
Song I could listen to non-stop: is any song by Lil Baby. He is my favorite rapper of this generation. All-time favorite, however, is still Eminem (the GOAT).
My motto in life: Everything in life is temporary. So when things are good, enjoy the good because it will end. And when things are bad, don’t worry because that too will pass.
Favorite movie: Avengers: Endgame. I went on the first day the movie was released, and I will never forget the electrifying atmosphere in the theater, especially when all of the superheroes came back. I have been an Avengers fan since I was a young kid, and this movie was the culmination of a many of my favorite childhood memories.
I’m motivated by: my parents’ work ethic. They have done a lot for me and my sister, and I try to emulate their work ethic so that I can get to a position where I can help them in the future.
My hero: is my mom. She sacrificed a lot to take care of me and my sister when my family moved to the United States. Without her constant support and guidance, I would not have been able to accomplish all that I have in school and college. I am very thankful for her, and I hope that I can provide the same support to others in the future.
Something I will never do: sky-diving. It seems exciting, but I am scared of heights. I don’t think I would be able to jump out of an airplane.
