Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at the College of Social Work

Our goal is to foster inclusion and diversity based on equal opportunity and respect. We strive to create an environment in which every student, faculty and staff member recognizes and values all races, ethnicities, religions, genders, identity expression and sexual orientation, national origin, age, disability, or veteran status.

OFFICE OF DIVERSITY, EQUITY AND INCLUSION

The Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at the College of Social Work is committed to creating an environment in which every student, faculty and staff member is recognized, valued, and respected. We do this through promoting honest conversations, diverse collaborations, and expanded access for historically marginalized groups.

We acknowledge that the obstacles to this work are systemic and deeply rooted in a history of racism and oppression that plague institutions at all levels of society—including our College and profession. We envision a path forward by taking responsibility for how we individually and collectively can better embody and advance the principles of anti-oppressive social work. We invite students, faculty, staff and partnering agencies to join us in this effort.

We are committed to:

  • Diversity – Increasing the range of human differences represented in our community
  • Equity – Identifying, responding to, and eliminating bias, harassment, and discrimination, or any other barrier that impedes full and meaningful participation and inclusion so that all students, staff and faculty can thrive
  • Inclusion – Cultivating a culture of belonging through the creation and preservation of empowering spaces where each person is valued and supported

Challenge the conventional. Create the exceptional. No Limits.
