She was one of two nurses nationwide to receive a postdoctoral fellowship from Pfizer, Inc (2002-2004) which focused on innovations in health outcomes. Dr. Corbett received her bachelor of arts in nursing from Carroll College in Helena, MT and her master of nursing from Whitworth College in Spokane, WA.
Dr. Corbett’s teaching roles have included undergraduate, masters and PhD coursework and advising/mentoring.
Dr. Corbett’s research activities focus on strategies to improve chronic illness management and patient safety. Her research to improve the safe use of medications has been funded by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists’ Research and Education Foundation, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, the National Institutes of Health, and the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute. Dr. Corbett is currently the PI for a R01 funded by the National Institute on Aging which is evaluating the effect of a chronic care management intervention on participants’ abilities to engage in self-management and on their pattern of acute care use. Leveraging funding from a local foundation, she and her team members are also evaluating a medication safety tool kit that was developed from a PCORI-funded study.
Dissemination activities have included national and international presentations and authorship on over 60 peer-reviewed publications.
