Steering Committee

The Strategic Planning Steering Committee actively contributes to the realization of the SOM mission and vision through:

  • Identifying the most important strategic objectives related to strategic goals of the SOM
  • Facilitating the defining of metrics which will reflect success in achieving agreed-upon objectives and action plans.
  • Incorporating and assessing periodic environmental scans, followed by reassessment of the SOM’s strategic goals.
  • Serving as a 2-way information conduit to SOM faculty, staff, students, and other stakeholders regarding strategic goals, objectives, and action plans.

The Strategic Planning Steering Committee focused efforts for the academic year 2020-2021 on new strategic initiatives to expand diversity, improve equity and continue to build our culture of inclusion.  Three working groups were established, focusing on:

  • Faculty and staff diversity
  • Student pipelines, recruitment, and support
  • Culture of inclusion

For the 2021-2022 academic year, the Strategic Planning Steering Committee will track the SOM progress on updated diversity and inclusion goals.  We will also revisit other strategic goals, including growth of research, enhancing strategic partnerships, improving our educational programs, and contributing to the development of the new USC Health Sciences Campus.
