Dial-a-Ride Transit (DART)
Dial-A-Ride Transit is an equivalent service for individuals who cannot utilize the public transit system. Under the Americans with Disabilities Act, DART is administered by the Central Midlands Transit (the COMET). Each one-way trip is $4 and can be paid for in advance.
DART is an origin-to-destination, advance reservation, shared-ride transportation service that complements the fixed-route bus services. There are no restrictions on the purpose or frequency of reservations. Riders going in the same general direction are grouped together to share rides. A fleet of small buses provides DART service. Each is equipped with wheelchair lifts and can accommodate four wheelchairs.
DART riders must meet eligibility certifications and complete an application, which you can download from the DART homepage. Once qualified, you can request a trip by calling DART any day of the week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 803-255-7123. For more information, call the DART staff at 803-255-7123 or visit the DART website.
Transportation for medical visits is provided free of charge to those who qualify. Call 1-866-431-9635 to learn more about transportation for individuals with disabilities.
