2019 BTWC Gala
This year's Gala took place on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at the South Carolina State Museum. Thank you to everyone who attended and financially supported this event; we hope you had a wonderful time!
Record Breaking Year
Our office is thrilled to announce that we broke, not one record, but TWO in 2019! Over 800 guests were in attendance, making this year the most attended Gala in 18 years. With support from our sponsors, donors, event attendees, and auction participants, we raised $65,696 to benefit the Alumni Scholarship Fund and The Free Medical Clinic, hitting an all-time fundraising high. We can't thank our UofSC School of Medicine Columbia family enough!
Sponsorship Opportunities
With over 800 guests in attendance, the Gala is a great opportunity for business exposure before, during, and after the event. There are various sponsorship packages available at all levels of financial commitments, recognition, and benefits.
2019 Student Co-Chairs
We are proud of our student co-chairs and what they accomplished over the last several months. This group of dedicated ladies went over and beyond the call of duty, and we couldn't have put on a successful event without them.

History
In 2002, the character of the School of Medicine student body was revealed when fourth-year medical students felt compelled to make an impact on the institution that afforded them the opportunity to become physicians by supporting student scholarships. More significantly, they identified a need for providing high quality healthcare to our Midlands’ citizens. Their compassion evolved into the inaugural Black Tie White Coat Gala, and a tradition was born.
For the past 18 years, the student body has teamed up with the Office of Development and Alumni Relations to jointly organize the school’s signature fundraiser. With almost $870,000 generated to date, the Black Tie White Coat Gala supported the mission of providing financial assistance to the Alumni Scholarship Fund and to The Free Medical Clinic.
