Christopher G. Mazoué, M.D., attended Cornell University, in Ithaca, New York, where he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics and played football. He received his medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans with election to the AOA honors medical society. He completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas and completed a fellowship in Sports Medicine at the American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, Alabama, under the guidance of renowned orthopaedic surgeons James Andrews, MD, and William Clancy, MD.
Dr. Mazoué is currently an Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. He is board certified in orthopedic surgery with a subspecialty in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery. His clinical expertise includes complex shoulder and elbow surgery, shoulder reconstruction, shoulder replacement and complex knee injuries.
With extensive experience caring for athletes at all levels, Dr. Mazoué has treated patients from youth to professional leagues. He provides care for numerous local middle schools, high schools and colleges, and is the team physician for the University of South Carolina, South Carolina State University and Benedict College. Dr. Mazoué is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. He has numerous publications and lectures locally, regionally and nationally.
