Dr. Raymond Bynoe joined the faculty of the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in 1988. A graduate of Lincoln University, Lincoln University, Pennsylvania, he earned his doctor of medicine from the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, South Carolina. After serving a residency at Richland Memorial Hospital (now Palmetto Health Richland), Columbia, S.C., he completed a trauma/critical care fellowship at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine, Memphis, Tennessee.
Dr. Bynoe is presently an Associate Professor of Surgery and state faculty for Advanced Trauma Life Support. His entire medical career has been based in Columbia, S.C., serving the Midlands at the Trauma Service of Richland Memorial Hospital (now Palmetto Health Richland). He was appointed Medical Director of the Trauma Service in 1996. Dr. Bynoe was instrumental in the establishment of Project Ready, a community outreach program for youths at risk, and founder of the Society of Carolina Surgeons. He received the Deans Medal for Outstanding Faculty in 2000 and the Distinguished School of Medicine Physician Alumni Award in 2001.
