Daniela Jankovska is an instructor in the Department of Retailing at the University of South Carolina. Jankovska teaches in the area of computer-aided design (CAD) for fashion merchandising, store design and retail. Her courses provide an overview of the fashion industry as a global economic power. Topics covered in her classes include CAD, visual merchandising and store design, the changing nature of fashion, apparel production, merchandising and innovative fashion business practices as they relate to the designers, manufacturers and retailers.
Besides working in academia, Jankovska has also worked in corporate retail and consulting for companies such as Nordstrom and WG Consulting. Before coming to UofSC, she taught interdisciplinary courses in apparel merchandising and product development, sourcing and operations management, and interior design at Bowling Green State University. Jankovska has developed and led numerous study abroad programs and professional development student field trips.
Jankovska does research on user-centered design and human factors in apparel and textiles. Her past research projects have involved consumers in medical, retail and other industrial domains. Her research has been published in the Journal of Global Fashion Marketing and the International Journal of Fashion Design, Technology and Education. She has presented papers for various conferences, including the National Retail Federation and the International Textile and Apparel Association. She is an active reviewer for the Journal of Applied Ergonomics and Clothing and Textiles Research Journal. In addition, she writes and advocates for social entrepreneurship, economic empowerment and STEM in fashion.
