The Graduate School, in collaboration with other offices across campus, offers a variety of free personal and professional development workshops and events to help you succeed.  These events are open to all UofSC graduate students.

Introduction to Graduate-Level Writing (Virtual)

The University Writing Center will facilitate a detail discussion about the parts and functions of a research paper.

Three-Minute Thesis Workshop

Friday | April 8, 2022 | 3 p.m.  - 4 p.m.
Location: Russell House, Room 305

This workshop is designed to help you talk about your research with a general audience. Hosted by Dr. Jonathan Edwards, Assistant Professor of Rhetoric and Director of the Program in Speech Communication and Rhetoric, this workshop will help you practice not only how to put your research into general terms but also in a condensed format. The workshop will be particularly useful for students participating in the 3MT competition at Discover UofSC, but all students are welcome to attend.


Start Smart Salary Negotiation Workshop (Virtual)

Monday | April 11, 2022 | 4 p.m.  - 6 p.m.

Prepare to hit the job market armed with the knowledge and skills to negotiate salaries and benefits and receive fair and realistic compensation. This two-hour virtual workshop facilitated by the Student Success Center is specifically designed to teach you how to negotiate salaries for a new job and will increase your confidence in your negotiation style through facilitated discussion and role-play.
