Applying to CarolinaLIFE

Your college experience begins here!

Admissions Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Display an interest in pursuing educational, employment, and life experiences through postsecondary education
  • Desire to learn and participate in inclusive classroom and work settings
  • Be at least 18 years old and have completed high school (a high school diploma is not required)
  • Have a documented cognitive disability
  • Demonstrate basic safety skills
  • Be independent in self-administering medication
  • Follow a schedule with minimal support
  • Communicate wants, desires, and needs


Admissions Process

  • We operate on a rolling admission policy and although there is no specific deadline to apply for admission, it is to your advantage to plan ahead and apply early.
  • The CarolinaLIFE admissions team will begin the initial review applications by mid-October. In general, applications will be reviewed within 4-6 weeks of submission.
  • The CarolinaLIFE admissions team will invite select candidates to interview.
  • The CarolinaLIFE admissions team will notify candidates by mail if they have been selected for admission into CarolinaLIFE.
  • The CarolinaLIFE admissions process is selective. Meeting the basic requirements does not guarantee acceptance into the program.


How to Apply

CarolinaLIFE will no longer be accepting applications for the Fall 2022 Cohort. The application for the Fall 2023 Cohort will be available on September 1st, 2022.


Application Checklist

Make sure you mail the following documents to CarolinaLIFE after you submit your application:

  • Copy of most recent/current IEP
  • Psycho-educational evaluation within the past three years

To submit a letter of recommendation, please copy and paste the following link and send it to your references to complete. You will need 3 letters of recommendation.

CarolinaLIFE WILL NOT review your application until all THREE letters of recommendation are received. References should not be family members or friends. References may be contacted by CarolinaLIFE to ensure that their letter is reflective of their true opinion of the applicant's ability and/or drive to be successful in college. Falsification of this information is subject to immediately loss of consideration.


 Please Note

  • All application materials submitted will be destroyed immediately after final decisions are made for those students who are not accepted.
  • Any admission materials sent directly to the university rather than the program office above may delay the admission process.
  • Upon admittance into CarolinaLIFE, students will have to submit an official transcript from their high school confirming exit.
