Annual Equity in Education Conference

The theme for the 2022 conference was "Pro-Blackness: Where Do We Go From Here?" The keynote speakers was Chike Akua, Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership at Clark Atlanta University. Upcoming Event: Book Talk on "Schoolhouse Burning" with Professor Derek Black, May 19, 2022

Join us for a book discussion with Derek Black, the author of the 2020 Schoolhouse Burning: Public Education and the Assault on American Democracy. After opening reflections on the book, the author will respond to moderator and audience questions. 

On the author:

Derek Black is the Ernest F. Hollings Chair in Constitutional Law at the University of South Carolina. Prior to teaching at Howard University and the University of South Carolina, he litigated issues relating to school desegregation, diversity, school finance equity, student discipline, and special education at the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law. Professor Black’s areas of expertise include education law and policy, constitutional law, civil rights, evidence, and torts.
