Gregory A. McCord, Ed.D. is an experienced educational executive with extensive knowledge
of federal and state laws, board policies, strategic planning, contract negotiation,
and educational governance in the public school system.
McCord currently serves as a partner with MCSquared Consulting, where he and his wife, Angela McCord offer services that include executive coaching for district and school leaders, math, science, and technology integration strategies for teachers.
McCord served as superintendent for the Marlboro County school district from June 2018 until October 2022. Marlboro County is a diverse community in rural South Carolina. The county has eight schools, 600 employees, and 3,700 students with an annual operating budget of $37 million. McCord guided the district during and through the COVID-19 pandemic. His accomplishments in Marlboro County include passing a 2018 county-wide bond referendum for capital improvements, partnering with Care South Hospital to offer health care services to the district and community, and increasing the graduation rate.
Prior to MCSD, McCord served as Chief Auxiliary Services Officer for the Beaufort County School District with an enrollment of more than 22,000 students supported by an annual operating budget of $225 million. McCord was a key member of the district’s executive team, responsible for various day-to-day operations while serving BCSD students and families. He also assisted district-level staff and building-level administrators at 32 campuses and district sites.
McCord began his educational career in 1994, teaching CTE (Business) at Butler and Cross Creek High schools in Augusta, Georgia. From 2000-2004, he served as an assistant principal at T.W. Josey High in Augusta and Eau Claire High School of Arts in Columbia, SC. In 2004, he was named District Supervisor of Student Services for Lexington/Richland School District Five in Ballentine, SC. In 2007-2012, he served as Principal at Orangeburg-Wilkinson High in Orangeburg, SC.

McCord holds numerous certifications from the state of South Carolina: Business Education, Superintendent, Secondary Principal and Supervision. He has earned certificates from Tapping Executive Educators and the School Leadership Executive Institute and completed the Atlantic Research Partners National Superintendents Academy. He also earned an Educational Leadership Certification from Augusta State University.
McCord received the Special Olympics South Carolina Educator of the Year Award in 2015. In 2001, he founded the original Bow Tie Club, a mentoring program focused on teaching life skills for high school males. He founded the Educational Exposure & Experiences (E3) mentoring program for males (12 - 18) attending Beaufort County middle and high schools. He is the creator of #345, a social awareness campaign that demonstrates the power of words: “I love you (3 words), I Care For You (4 words), I Am Here For You (5 words).” McCord is a Life Member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, INC., a 2017 Riley Institute graduate, and a member of the South Carolina High School League Appellate Panel, 7th Congressional District.
