Background
Christina L. Myers is a third-year doctoral candidate, ’22 Breakthrough Graduate Scholar, ‘21 SEC Emerging Scholar, ‘20 AEJMC Presidential Diversity & Inclusion Career Development Graduate Student Fellow and Grace Jordan McFadden Professors Program scholar.
Myers is a freelance journalist whose work focuses on race, culture, identity and equity. Her previous journalism postings include Equity Reporter for The State Newspaper, political reporter for The Associated Press and national desk writer for NBC News Channel.
She is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists, UofSC Black Graduate Student Association and AEJMC — serving as the ’21-‘22 GSIG Professional Freedom& Responsibility Chair.
Teaching
Myers responsibilities as a teacher go beyond the walls of the classroom. While it is her mission to ensure that students learn and are able to apply the practical and theoretical skills of journalism, it is equally important to help mold students into engaged citizens, empathetic to the changing dynamics of our society as they practice civility, good ethical conduct and selfless service.
