Shannon A. Bowen, Ph.D.

Shannon Bowen is an award-winning scholar and researcher. She teaches and researches ethics across corporations, pharmaceutical firms, governmental entities and the public relations industry. She is is an elected member of the Board of Trustees of the Arthur W. Page Society, and sits on the Board of Directors of the International Public Relations Research Conference. Dr. Bowen is passionate about teaching management, wherein students blossom into capable, real-world managers.

Nina Brook

Nina Brook

Nina Brook began her work in newspapers as editor of the student newspaper at Georgia State University. After college, she worked as a reporter for newspapers in Georgia, Minnesota and South Carolina, focusing primarily on state and local government issues. At WIS-TV, the NBC affiliate in Columbia, Brook covered state government and politics where she received a first place award for general news reporting from the South Carolina AP Broadcasters.

Shirley Carter

Shirley Staples Carter, Ph.D.

In December 2018, Dr. Shirley Carter was named the college's Associate Dean for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Building on her academic and professional background, her teaching and research interests intersect leadership and diversity in the academy and industry. She was recipient of the Charles E. Scripps Award, 2006 Journalism Administrator of the Year, awarded by the Scripps Howard Foundation and the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communications.

Kelly Davis

Kelly Davis, APR, Fellow PRSA

Davis brings to the classroom more than twenty years of experience in the corporate, government, nonprofit and agency sectors of public relations. She shares her expertise in strategic communications, brand development, issues management and public policy through experiential learning and real-world application that assists students in making a connection between their studies and their future careers. Davis enjoys helping students identify their interests and introducing them to resources that will guide them on their career paths.

Candice Edrington

Candice L. Edrington, Ph.D.

Dr. Candice L. Edrington identifies herself as a scholar-activist. Her teaching and research focuses on public relations, social movements, visual rhetoric, and social media. Before earning her Ph.D., Dr. Edrington gained professional experience in communication and public relations via capacities such as: Independent Public Relations Consultant, Coordinator of Communications, and Director of Engagement. In the classroom, her goal is to facilitate the co-creation of knowledge through critical thinking, relationship building, and hands on experience.

Ernie Grigg

Ernie Grigg has nearly two decades of public relations experience, having worked with several international organizations. In addition to advising the UofSC’s nationally recognized PR competition teams, he is the managing director of The Carolina Agency. The award-winning full-service strategic communication firm staffed entirely by students serves a wide variety of clients including Ronald McDonald House, the U.S. Census, Wild Turkey, and the Girls Scouts. Grigg also does political consulting.

Jungmi Jun

Jungmi Jun, Ph.D.

Dr. Jungmi Jun is a health communication scientist, and her research focuses on the intersection of message/media, socio-psychology, and health perceptions/behaviors. She is an author of more than 80 peer-reviewed journal and conference papers in the fields of Health Communication, Tobacco Regulatory Science, Health Disparities/Community Health, and Public Relations. Jun has taught Strategic Communication, Health Communication Campaigns, International PR, and Social Media Analytics.

Jacqueline Keisler

Jacqueline Keisler has more than a decade of experience in the field of public relations. Prior to joining the university, she worked at a South Carolina government agency as the Public Information Director. Keisler has also consulted on various public relations projects for non-profits and provided communications counsel on local political campaigns.

Stephanie Martin

Stephanie Martin

Stephanie Martin is a seasoned public relations professional with experience in the nonprofit, government, utilities and higher education industries. Her communication skills have been honed through positions with United Way, Clemson University youth development programs and as a university instructor since 2012.

Brooke Weberling McKeever, Ph.D.

Brooke McKeever began her career at a public relations agency in Chicago. She transitioned to the nonprofit world, working for the Chicago International Film Festival and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Now McKeever teaches and researches public relations, with a focus on nonprofit organizations, and health communication. She has received awards for her teaching and research. She enjoys helping students figure out how to do what they love for a living and achieve their goals.

Leigh Moscowitz, Ph.D.

Dr. Leigh Moscowitz teaches courses in the undergraduate and graduate programs in media and public relations writing, research methods, media literacies, and gender in media. She creates a collaborative and experiential learning environment by integrating problem-based models, partnerships with community leaders and organizations, and the latest technology tools into her classes.

Lisabeth (Lisa) Sisk

Lisa Sisk’s professional practice includes agency, corporate and nonprofit public relations, and she incorporates those experiences into her teaching. She received the USC Garnet Apple for Teaching Innovation Award, the Mary Caldwell Excellence in Teaching Award from the SJMC, and three Mortar Board awards for excellence in teaching from the Mortar Board Society.

Anli Xiao

Anli Xiao, Ph.D.

Anli Xiao tries to bridge the gap between textbook knowledge and real-world application. Her role in a classroom extends beyond instructing. She assists students to internalize, synthesize and critically examine textbook knowledge by bringing up real cases and examples, introducing diverse opinions, raising challenging questions and stimulating discussions.
