Facilities

The Language Center is located in the Humanities Classroom Building, closest to the corner of Pickens and Greene Streets, between Nursing and the Humanities Office Building.

The Sony Lab is a computing classroom with 27 seats and teacher station, equipped with an automatically tracking room camera and ceiling mounted wide-angle microphones. It is primarily used for "virtual language exchanges", research, and teacher training but we can configure it for just about any scenario. Send an e-mail to fairchild@sc.edu to reserve it. Follow this link to view the current reservations for the Sony and Main Lab

Do you feel self-conscious when recording yourself for class? We get that. The Soundproof Room (HUCB 106C) is a small, soundproof recording room just across the hall from the Foreign Language Center. Send a message to reserve it for private recording.

We have three printers in the Foreign Language Center:

  • The HP LaserJet 4014 is for general black and white simplex or duplex printing at .10 per side
  • A multi-fuction printer for "scan to pdf" or general black and white simplex or duplex printing.
  • The HP Color LaserJet prints up to 11 x 17" at .25 per side.

Computers:

  • 4 - 27.5" iMacs
  • 8 - 21.5" iMacs
  • 23 - Windows 10 PCs

Browse our Foreign Language Film Collection and let us know if you need a link to stream it for your class or just for personal research.

Mango Languages is an online language platform that offers multiple avenues for learning a new language. You can get an account by e-mail request or by calling the front desk of the center at 803-777-2083.
