Multicultural Student Organizations

There are more than 500 student organizations at the University of South Carolina for students to join. There are dozens of multicultural student organizations at UofSC that are focused on all aspects of identity including race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, sexual orientation and religion. For full details, check out Garnet Gate and search by term. Here are a few! 

 

Multicultural Outreach Student Team (MOST)

MOST is an opportunity for current students to volunteer as a student leader with the University’s diversity recruitment efforts. Members share their positive experiences at South Carolina while gaining leadership experience in assisting the university. MOST students participate in the Taking Carolina Home initiative, personal outreach campaigns, and with group visit tours and student panels. Current UofSC students are encouraged to sign up here.


Association of African American Students (AAAS)

AAAS works to provide a safe space and positive cultural, intellectual and social environment for all students. Meetings focus on various social and political concerns of the African American community. 


Black Honors Caucus

The purpose of the Black Honors Caucus is to service high achieving Black students and give them a safe space to convene and share ideas unapologetically and without fear. 


Individuals Respecting Identities and Sexualities (IRIS)

IRIS is a social, service, and advocacy organization for the LGBTQ+ communities at the University of South Carolina.


Latin American Student Organization (LASO)

LASO is a student-led group that enables aspiring leaders of all academic interests, regardless of race/ethnicity/background, from across the university to make a difference at the University of South Carolina and within the community. 


Multicultural Greek Council (MGC)

MGC is the governing council for the six culturally-based Greek-lettered fraternities and sororities at South Carolina. 


National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC)

The National Pan-Hellenic Council is the coordinating council for the nine historically African American fraternities and sororities, eight of which are at South Carolina. 

 


Association of Transfer Students

The purpose of the Association of Transfer Students is to assist transfer students as they transition to the University of South Carolina and foster a community that will support them academically, socially, and emotionally.
