As associate vice president for student life, Anna Edwards leads the Department of Student Life in advancing student success and the student experience through services and facilities that enhance leadership development, diversity and inclusion, community engagement and personal wellness. This work is done strategically and intentionally through the units that report to Student Life including athletics tickets for students; campus recreation; fraternity and sorority life; Garnet Media Group; leadership and service center; multicultural student affairs; parent and family programs; the Russell House University Union and its associated programs, including Gamecock Entertainment; spiritual and religious life; and student government.
Edwards previously held the position of director of student services, in which she managed the operations and direction for four functional areas: athletics tickets for students, fraternity and sorority life, off-campus student services and community outreach, and substance abuse prevention and education.
Edwards currently serves as chair of the university’s Honors and Awards Commission, chair of Religious Affairs Committee, and Secretary of the university’s Board of Student Publications. She has served as a member of the university’s Strategic Planning Group, and the Campus Event Management Team. Additionally, she has served as a member of the university's Social Compact Committee, founding member of the Carolina Community Coalition, member and co-chair of the Division of Student Affairs and Academic Support Professional Development Team, and as Student Life's representative on the division’s Planning, Assessment and Innovation Council. In addition, she teaches University 101.
Edwards earned her doctorate in educational administration and master's in higher education and student affairs from the University of South Carolina and a bachelor's in political science and speech and communication studies from Clemson University. She is also a graduate of Harvard University’s Institute for Management and Leadership in Education and Crisis Management in Higher Education program.
