The Big Event History
The Big Event is an annual event that takes place on over 100 college campuses nationwide. It was started by Texas A&M’s student government in 1982 as a way for students to show appreciation to the surrounding community.
The Big Event is an opportunity for students to develop relationships with local community members and give thanks for the resources that the city provides to the university.
USC’s The Big Event
The Big Event was brought to USC in the Spring of 2018. Students gather on Greene Street in the morning and are sent to volunteer sites to complete tasks requested by local community members.
USC’s The Big Event attempts to bridge the gap between students and the greater Columbia community through promoting acts of service and social sustainability.

If you are interested in hosting volunteers at your organization or neighborhood, please complete the registration form to let us know about your project's needs so we can best match volunteers to your service site.
Register a Team
Looking to have your student organization or group serve on a team together?
1.) Select a team delegate. This can be any member of your organization who is willing to have a bit more responsibility leading up to The Big Event.
2.) After successfully registering your team, each member of your group can sign up individually and select to be a part of your team on the form.
Register as a Participant
Part of a team? Your team name will appear for you to select on the registration form after your team delegate registers your group. Please do not register until you see your team name appear.
Volunteering solo? Not a problem! Simply register yourself without associating with a team and you will be added to a group of USC volunteers for the day of service!
Register as an Alumnus
Alumni can register and either join our USC Alumni team or join an organization they were affiliated with during undergrad to continue their love of service!
