Refer a Student
Faculty and staff referrals are motivating for students and are welcome at any time. There is no need to have a specific fellowship in mind.
To refer a student, simply complete this electronic referral form to share the names of up to five students who you believe have the potential to be competitive for a national fellowship. You may submit up to five students per form, but please submit as many and as often as you’d like! When a referral is received, someone from our office will email your student(s) with instructions on scheduling a meeting with a national fellowship advisor.
Write a Letter
Letters of Recommendation are a critical piece of any national fellowship application. Advisors in our office are available to provide guidance on how to craft a letter that accurately reflects the specific criteria for each competition.
We recommend this helpful general resource on writing recommendation letters for students. In addition, you can find specific advice on what various national fellowships are seeking in their letters, with particular attention given to the Fulbright, Gates Cambridge, Goldwater, Marshall, Mitchell, NSF, Rhodes, Truman and Udall.
