The Goal:
Our goal is to increase the representation of qualified researchers and instructional faculty actively engaged in community-based cancer-related health disparities research, teaching, and community service by addressing the following specific aims:
Specific Aims:
-
Develop a diverse cadre of junior faculty who are competent to work in cancer health disparities CBPR teams and who understand the merit of interdisciplinary ways of thinking and behaving
-
Create environments across institutions that can draw in individuals and constituencies (including non-scientists) that heretofore have been disenfranchised in the process of conducting cancer-related research
-
Expand training opportunities for students and postdoctoral fellows in order to increase capacity in the AA community for addressing cancer-related health disparities
-
Conduct research studies that create a community-driven, CBPR “space” in which interdisciplinary ideas for decreasing cancer health disparities can emerge and flourish
-
Expand core resources to support the overall research and CBPR effort in creative and flexible ways.
