Symphonic Winds with Cormac Cannon

USC Symphonic Winds

USC Symphonic Winds, under the direction of Cormac Cannon, performs music that represents both traditional and contemporary genres. The ensemble is comprised of both music majors and non-majors from a wide variety of degree programs, and musicians place into the ensemble through a blind audition process each semester. Membership in the ensemble is open to USC students regardless of major or classification.

USC Symphonic Winds has been featured at the 2012 College Band Director's National Association Southern Regional Conference, the 2010 Society of Composers, Inc. International Conference, the 2009 Kappa Kappa Psi/Tau Beta Sigma Southeast District Convention, and the 2008 North American Saxophone Alliance International Convention. The ensemble has been invited to perform at University of South Carolina regional campuses as part of a continuing outreach program for the arts.

How to Join

Membership in the USC Symphonic Winds is open to all students on campus regardless of major or classification. Placement into the ensemble is determined by blind audition each semester. Auditions consist of scales, prepared pieces and sightreading. Materials are posted online prior to each audition.
