We want to see children reach their potential in all areas of their lives. Students
learn to listen, finger, read music, compose, produce a beautiful tone and express
Group lessons are carefully planned to maximize learning potential by using many areas
of the brain to make learning more productive. Movement and games are a major component
in the classes so students maintain a keen sense of alertness. Class size is limited to six students.
Many of the tenets of the class are based on recent research in neurogenesis and learning
potential. Neurogenesis means birth of neurons. Neurogenesis is most prevalent during
prenatal development and is the process by which neurons are created to populate the
growing brain. Contrary to what was believed 10 years ago, new research has shown
that neurogenesis also can occur throughout life. KinderFlute uses the Blocki Flute

KinderFlute Spring 2018
For children ages 4 through 5th grade.
Includes a weekly 30-minute private lesson and weekly group class. A NUVO flute is
recommended or a metal student flute with curved head joint. Specific recommendations
are made on a student-to-student basis after the intro class.

Emily Stumpf is a performer and pedagogue based in Columbia, S.C. where she is pursuing
a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of South Carolina. She has experience
working with students of all ages and is committed to creating a fun, positive and
enriching musical experience.
Olivia Abernathy is a graduate student at USC pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree
in flute performance. She enjoys working with young children and helping them grow
as musicians and music lovers. Her goal is to create a welcoming, positive learning
environment where all students can thrive.
