Find out if the USC School of Music is a good fit for you

Many of our current students learned about us by visiting the School of Music when they were in high school. They attended concerts, recitals and special events; met our talented faculty and students; and took tours of our impressive facilities and campus. That’s how they knew we were a good fit for them when it came time to make a decision about which college to attend.

We welcome your visit too, and will do all we can to help you plan informative, fun sessions to help you “audition” us!

Take a Campus Tour

Our Visitor Center offers a variety of general campus tour options, including in-person student-led or self-guided tours as well as virtual tours.  The in-person guided campus tours are walking tours that last approximately 80-100 minutes.  Register for a campus tour.

Plan a successful trip to USC

If you can, visit us during the fall or spring semester weekdays when classes are in session. You will get the most realistic snapshot of what it’s like to be a student at USC. Though we do schedule summer informational visits, many students and faculty are away for the summer, performing, attending and teaching at special summer programs, working on projects, etc. You may not get a chance to meet faculty or students in your area if you visit during the summer, but we will do our best to help you get as much as you can out of your visit.

You may want to start with a campus tour. If you want to visit the School of Music also you can schedule a School of Music information session, which includes a tour of our facilites when you make your Univiersty tour appointment, or you can contact us directly after you set an appointment.

To make an appointment to visit the School of Music:

Prospective undergraduates and graduate students - call Jennifer Mitchell, assistant director of music admissions, 803-777-4281 or email jmitchell@mozart.sc.edu.

If there are music faculty you would like to meet when you visit, send them an email and see if they may be able to accommodate a short meeting or a lesson with you.

Just have an afternoon? Call us at 803-777-4281 to join one of our School of Music information session tours, which take place at 11:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays or schedule an individual meeting.

Have all day? You can schedule a campus tour then call 803-777-4281 to set up a School of Music building tour and information session. Check out the extensive list of student, guest and faculty performances, and plan to join us for a concert and recital, too.

Have some free time? The City of Columbia’s famed Riverbanks Zoo & Botanical Garden, the South Carolina State Museum and the Columbia Museum of Art are just minutes from campus.
