Dr. Bayoumi has been actively involved in developing strong educational programs in mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering and nuclear engineering. His research activities have been focused in mechanical behavior of materials, tribology, diagnosis and prognosis and life predictions of components and subsystems, manufacturing processes, design, health monitoring systems (HUMS), and condition-based maintenance (CBM).
His research interests cover Health Monitoring Systems (condition-based maintenance; diagnosis, prognosis, and predictive maintenance), Design and Manufacturing (design for manufacturing and assembly; product design and development; manufacturing processes and automation; materials characterization; tribology), and MEMS/NEMS/Mechatronics (fabrication and characterization; mechatronics design).
He has published more than 80 journal papers, 50 refereed conference proceeding articles, 100 conference presentations and seminars, one book, 3 chapter books. He has supervised more than 15 PhD and 50 MS students. Additionally, Dr. Bayoumi is a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineering and a Fellow of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers.
