Centers + Equipment
Research resources at the University of South Carolina include cutting-edge technology, equipment, and specialized centers for innovation and discovery.
University researchers, professors, students, and their collaborative partners are working hands-on with the likes of the Siemens 3 Tesla MRI system at the McCausland Center for Brain Imaging; GE’s new portable ultrasound devices, which are being used throughout all four years of curriculum at the School of Medicine; and new genetic sequencing equipment at the Environmental Genomics Core Facility in the Public Health Research Center.
To improve collaborations and resource-sharing, the Office of Research and Health Sciences has compiled a list of more than 420 research "focus" areas; 230 types of state-of-the-art equipment and technology available to researchers around campus; nearly 50 research laboratories; 25 "core" facilities; and a searchable database to make it easier for researchers to find the information they need.
