First-Year Academic Advising
If you are a first-year student or a transfer student, you will be assigned a first-year
advisor in your college/school. Your first-year advisor will contact you several times
throughout the year, offer multiple 30 minute in-person sessions, help you develop
a four-year degree plan, evaluate transfer credit, and help you transition to college.
First-year students can view their assigned academic advisor on
Self-Service Carolina (login).
CHANGE Your Course
If you are interested in changing majors
between colleges/schools, a Major Change Advisor can help. Major Change Advisors are also
able to answer general advisement questions and help you prepare for your departmental
advising appointment. Contact your current academic advisor if you are looking to
change majors within the same college/school.

and beyond the classroom environment. Each session is tailored to the your needs and
focuses on general academic advising, academic planning/success strategies, strengths
identification, engagement planning/campus involvement, and navigating campus resources.
Academic coaches also work with students who are returning from academic suspension
or probation or students who are at risk of probation or suspension.
